R-410A is the most widely used refrigerant in the domestic air conditioning market since it was introduced as a replacement for the ozone-depleting R-22. However, its high GWP (Global Warming Potential) has always been against it.
Eric Rotheim, undoubtedly the inventor of the aerosol can, discovered dimethyl ether (DME) in 1926. Today, almost 100 years later, aerosol cans still exist and DME is used as a propellant.
Ethylene gas is the main ripening agent produced naturally within fruits and it starts the ripening process. Not only that, in plants it also promotes the opening of the flowers, the shedding of the leaves and, in aquatic and semi-aquatic species, it favors the rapid elongation of the stems or leaves.
In Spain, GLP (propane – butane,) with a 3.2 ± 0.2 bar pressure at 20ºC is by far the most common used propellant in the aerosol industry, followed by Dimethyl Ether (DME) for specific applications or of higher technical level.
Safety is one of the main pillars of GRIT and for this reason, drills and training are carried out continuously to learn how to use the fire systems.
