Current challenges in the foam sector

Retos-actuales-del-sector-espumas

When a new year begins, there are always interesting developments that are worth paying attention to. This 2023 brings many challenges for the foam sector that directly affect us. For this reason, throughout this article, we want to reflect on each of them, as well as talk about our own motivations and interests to face them in the best possible way.

At GRIT, we always talk about the values that we have as a brand and that make us very proud of everything we have achieved so far. It is true that the current challenges of the foam sector are not easy to address, however, we believe that we have the raw materials and the right strategies to not limit ourselves in any way. So, let’s talk about all of them.

Finding new uses for foams

The first of the foam sector challenges, perhaps the most important one, is finding new uses for these materials. Just like plastic has a second life because it can be recycled and used as a new resource, this is what is intended to be achieved in the foam sector. However, is it viable? Initially, the answer seems negative, but let’s analyze it. The truth is that industrial foam recycling already exists, that is, it is nothing new.

But, it is true that throughout this 2023, much more attention will be paid to actions carried out by companies like ours aimed at those new uses that foams can have. How? By recovering the material that would go directly to the trash to use it in various other ways. Sometimes, foams could be oriented towards other sectors that would reuse them without any problem.

But, although this is one of the current challenges of the foam sector, there is still nothing clear about the steps that would have to be taken to achieve something in this regard. However, at GRIT we are aware of any news about this to apply it, as the environment concerns us.

Proper waste management

Another of the current great challenges of the foam sector is to achieve proper waste management. And it is that foams tend to accumulate, increasing garbage and making it difficult to get rid of them. This generates a problem for the environment of which we are aware, and that is why we have all our attention focused on these foam sector challenges. Because they can change many things.

The options that are being considered to better manage waste are, on the one hand, recycling. We already mentioned it because it is one of the current foam sector challenges that is receiving a lot of attention. It’s not for nothing. Achieving this would be a crucial step. But, what about waste management?

The application of foams for other industrial uses or studying a possibility for this material to be more biodegradable, that is, that it can decompose quickly and effectively without impacting the environment, is crucial. But again, we are facing a foam sector challenge that will have to be seen how to tackle it throughout this 2023. For now, the goals seem to be quite clear.

Investing in environmentally friendly foams

Although we will have to wait for everything that comes up in favor of making these changes that ensure the well-being of the planet, at GRIT we have already been assuming foam sector challenges for some time. For example, we bet on those that are environmentally friendly, such as those intended for thermal insulation made with expanded polystyrene.

We know that the foam sector is difficult to introduce improvements that are more environmentally friendly. At GRIT, we choose sustainability, and with our professional baggage, we have discovered that nothing is impossible. The fact of having foams that do minimal harm to the environment is a clear example of this. Therefore, we are prepared to take on the current and future challenges of the foam sector.
